About Monyeka

Monyeka is the name I go by creatively and the brand I’m building. Right now, it’s just me and my camera, but I’m dreaming big. One day, I want to open a studio space of my own, offering not just photo sessions, but also workshops and creative experiences for others. That’s what I’m working toward slowly and intentionally, with every shoot, every edit, and every connection.

  • hey im karen.
I’m a first-generation Mexican-American photographer creating portraits that feel elevated but still true to you. My work is relaxed, minimal, and a little dreamy, with just the right amount of realness.

I’m especially passionate about working with other first-gen entrepreneurs and creatives. There's something really powerful about helping others feel seen, celebrated, and proud of how far they’ve come. That’s a big part of why I do what I do.

  • The vibe is super laid back. I’ll guide you, but nothing’s too stiff or over-posed. We chat, we laugh, I’ll probably ask about your weekend or favorite food, and then we make something beautiful.

  • I actually started with photo editing and design. Eventually I picked up a camera because I wanted to create my own work. Editing is still my favorite part, especially seeing your photos go live in the wild after a shoot.

  • You can usually find me eating Korean food, scrapbooking, or walking my dog, Matcha. I’m always inspired by fashion, and I try to bring that same elevated, minimal feel into every shoot.
