photography Internship

I’m currently looking for a creative intern to assist with studio tasks and general admin for my photography work. This role is ideal for someone interested in photography and learning the behind-the-scenes.

Please note: This is an unpaid internship intended for educational experience and portfolio building.

As part of the internship, I’m happy to offer mentorship and insight into my photography workflow, including:

  • Portrait and model digitals photography workflow

  • Photo editing and retouching mentorship

  • Studio setup and shoot preparation

  • Client communication

  • Content creation for social media

Interns will also have the opportunity to receive updated portraits or headshots and use of the studio during their time with me!

Details

Length: 3–4 month internship with the possibility to extend

Time Commitment: Approximately 5–10 hours per week, including occasional in-studio shoot days and remote tasks. Flexible scheduling depending on studio projects and photoshoot days.

Location:
Some tasks may be completed remotely, but interns must be able to occasionally work in-studio in Ravenswood, Chicago.

Responsibilities may include assisting with:

Client Communication & Admin

  • Responding to client inquiries (photoshoots, model digitals, general questions)

  • Following up with leads and checking in with booked clients

  • Helping track client payments and sending friendly reminders if needed

  • Maintaining communication with modeling agencies

  • Answering common questions about sessions, pricing, and availability

Booking & Scheduling

  • Helping manage the booking calendar

  • Sending available dates to clients

  • Assisting with rescheduling requests

  • Adding confirmed sessions to the calendar

Website & Studio Updates

  • Updating website galleries and blog posts

  • Assisting with basic SEO updates

  • Refreshing portfolio images

  • Updating testimonials from client feedback

Social Media & Content

  • Scheduling posts on Pinterest and other platforms

  • Filming behind-the-scenes content during photoshoots

  • Keeping track of collaborators and proper credits for creative projects

Creative Research & Shoot Support

  • Moodboard research and visual inspiration

  • Finding props, styling ideas, and references for shoots

  • Assisting with sourcing stylists, makeup artists, hair stylists, and models for creative projects

Studio Assistance

  • Setting up seamless paper and preparing the studio before shoots

  • Resetting the space between sessions

  • Organizing clothing racks and steaming garments when needed

Requirements

  • Must be able to occasionally work in-studio in Ravenswood, Chicago

  • Must be comfortable working both remotely and in-person

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Interest in photography, creative direction, or studio operations

Tasks may vary depending on projects and priorities.
