Creative Birthday Portraits with Grey

Grey’s birthday studio session was such a fun one to shoot. We planned it a few months ago as a creative trade—she’s an incredibly talented tattoo artist (check her out at @grey.tattoos) and gave me a beautiful piece. In return, she wanted a birthday photoshoot to celebrate herself.

She originally had some inspo for a sleek look with a suit, button-up, tie, and loafers, and told me she loved my past work with red backdrops. She also mentioned she was drawn to the soft, dreamy style I’ve become known for in my creative portraits. But when the day came, she ended up showing up exactly as herself—tattoos out, grillz in, comfy clothes, and a cute little cake in hand.

The whole session felt super natural. She brought such playful energy, didn’t overthink a thing, and completely trusted me with the editing and direction. Her poses were bold, cheeky, and full of personality—which made for some of my favorite studio portraits in a while.

In post, I leaned into the dreamy vibe even more—adding little sparkles to the highlights in her grillz, jewelry, candle flames and even the chrome silver chair she posed in. It gave everything an extra pop.

If you're looking to book a birthday shoot or creative portrait session that really captures your vibe, I’d love to work together. Whether you want something styled and polished or something a little more fun and spontaneous like this, we can create something that feels true to you.
